2024 National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest - Autonomous Vehicle (Problem H)

In the 2024 National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, we designed an autonomous vehicle based on TI MSPM0G3507 MCU, efficiently completing straight-line, semicircle, and figure-8 path tasks through infrared line tracking and PID closed-loop control, with performance far exceeding requirements.

Problem H (Autonomous Vehicle) of the 2024 National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest required teams to design an autonomous vehicle with TI MSPM0 series MCU as the core. The vehicle needed to complete straight-line driving, semicircular arc line tracking, and complex figure-8 path driving within designated areas according to different task requirements, with audio-visual alerts when passing specified vertices (A, B, C, D).

Core Solution

We proposed a complete and efficient solution for the contest requirements.

  • Main Controller: Strictly following contest regulations, we selected MSPM0G3507 as the main control chip.
  • Drive Strategy: Adopted two-wheel differential drive control strategy for flexible and precise motion control.
  • Path Recognition: Used infrared grayscale sensor array to identify and follow ground black lines for precise line tracking.
  • Control Algorithm: Introduced velocity closed-loop PID control algorithm, using motor encoder real-time speed feedback to dynamically adjust motor output for precise control of straight-line driving and turning.

Results and Performance

Our design not only excelled in theory and implementation but also proved its success through measured data. All performance metrics far exceeded requirements:
